My Current Project
I've been feeling a desire lately to do something that requires discipline, commitment and single minded focus - and will hopefully advance my painting skills. The goal is 100 paintings in 100 days starting May 1st, 2010. I've chosen plein air because that is where I feel my painting could most benefit at this time, 100 paintings because I'm fairly certain that's a good number to figure out some things I haven't yet, and 100 in a 100 because I like the ring of it.
In 20 years of painting I have found what invigorates, captivates and entertains me is challenge. For 15 years I painted landscapes and loved it, but in the last 5 I have felt called to try other things - primarily still life and figurative work, which I have enjoyed immensely. With this current project to paint 100 plein air paintings in 100 days, my intention is to grow further, and perhaps rekindle a love affair with an old friend.
